Yasuo Nomura is a conceptual artist based in New York, born in Shimane, Japan.

He earned his BA in oil painting at Musashino Art University in 2004. In 2018, Nomura won a grant from the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs to stay in New York and has been living and working here since then. In 2021, He was offered a three-year production support grant from the Vilcek Foundation to develop his project-based work.
In 2015, he participated in a residency program at the Kavli IPMU, where he interacted with researchers in a variety of fields, leading him to develop his unique art activities targeting higher dimensions and to advocate "Dimensionism."
PION, the work that symbolizes this concept, is providing superimposes the individuality of the self and others and proposes a new form of world peace in the space age through the perception of a third co-creation identity in the boundary between them. But, at the same time, since the experience on earth has a strong bias toward the up and down direction due to gravity, then Nomura start to aim at outer space (pure three-dimensional space) as a place where its true value can be demonstrated.
Now, a project is underway to gather "PION UNITED," a group of people from all over the world who will work together to realize the dream of actually building "PION Satellite," the first art satellite to be experienced in space in human history.
